Italy team is also known as the Azzurri. Italy has been playing international rugby since 1929. Italy is ranked 15th in the world by the IRB as of 22 April 2016.

Italy have also competed in every Rugby World Cup since the first tournament in 1987. There’s more chance of them knocking down the Colosseum than winning the 2019 Rugby World Cup. They are in the group of death alongside New Zealand and South Africa so it would be surprising to see them progress.

The current head coach is Conor O’shea Number Eight Sergio Parisse is their current captain.

No 8 Sergio Parisse is their long-term talisman but, at 35, there’s not much juice left in the tank. Matteo Minozzi embodies the brio of the younger brigade.
